Walkthrough
Add and upload your first canvas record
Follow the shortest path from a connected canvas to a new record in Salesforce. You will choose an object, create a draft record, review it, and upload it.
Before you begin
The Org Loom managed package must be installed in the Salesforce org, and your Salesforce user needs the Org Loom User or Org Loom Admin permission set. The user also needs Salesforce’s API Enabled system permission through their profile or another permission set.
The connection flow checks these requirements. If you are not a Salesforce administrator, it gives you instructions to send to one. Complete that setup before continuing.
If you are working in a Team workspace, a workspace admin must grant you the Upload to Salesforce permission.
Not connected yet? Start with Connecting a Salesforce org, then return here.
The process
- Add a blank record to the canvas.
- Enter and review its field values.
- Optionally save the canvas for later.
- Review the upload and create the record in Salesforce.
Nothing is created in Salesforce until the final upload.
Start from a connected canvas
The Salesforce chip in the upper-right area should show your active connection. Use that chip whenever you need to switch, reauthorize, or add another org.
Step 1: Add a blank record
Under Add records, select Add a blank record. Search for the standard or custom object you want to work with, select it, and place the new card on the canvas. The example below uses a Contact, but you can choose any available object.
The new record is a draft. A draft exists only on the canvas until you upload it. You can move the card without changing Salesforce.
For later work, you can also add records with Browse records, Import from CSV, Import via SOQL query, or Generate with AI.
Step 2: Enter the record's fields
Double-click the record card to open its editor. Fill the fields marked as required for that object, add any other values you need, and choose Save draft when the record looks correct.
If the record should relate to another record, add or load the related record and connect them before uploading. Org Loom uses the relationship on the canvas when it creates the records.
Step 3: Save the canvas if you want to return later
This step is optional. Open the menu beside Save canvas, then Save as new canvas and give the canvas a name. Saving preserves the canvas and its draft without creating the record in Salesforce.
If you are ready to finish now, continue directly to the upload.
Step 4: Upload the record to Salesforce
Select Upload to Salesforce. Org Loom checks the record and shows an upload preview. Resolve any required-field, permission, validation-rule, or relationship error before continuing.
Confirm the upload. After Salesforce creates the record, the card is no longer a draft and carries its Salesforce identity. The upload is also available in Upload history if you need to review or recall it.
